St. Nicholas' Day is December 6th, and it is the traditional Catholic feast day of Nikolaos of Myra. This holiday is celebrated primarily in European countries, although many families around the world celebrate this special occasion. Families celebrate by leaving their shoes out the night before the holiday. St. Nikolas' is supposed to pay a visit and fill the shoes with candy and other treats.
Gift certificates are a great alternative to candy, especially if you are worried about your children getting too much sugar during the holiday season. Additionally, older teens will appreciate having the freedom to buy something that they truly want.
Gift certificates are also a good option if you will be traveling with your family but you still want to celebrate St. Nicholas' Day. Flying or even driving long distances with presents in tow can be difficult. Anytime you have to pack a present, there is a chance that it might break during travel. When you fly, you might have difficulties with airport security. If you drive, you will have to clutter your vehicle with packages. Gift certificates are small and easy to pack. Your family will love them, and best of all, they will not break.
